House of Kapokbos

Project Overview

The House of Kapokbos is a Plot + Plan project that explores the relationship between architecture and dramatic sea views. Located in Yzerfontein on the West Coast, the design responds to the site's unique position with forms that frame and celebrate the ocean vista. The organic architecture creates a dialogue between the built form and the natural landscape, with spaces that transition seamlessly from interior to exterior.

Design Approach

The design process focused on understanding the site's relationship to the ocean and how architecture could enhance rather than compete with this natural feature. We developed a form that creates multiple viewing opportunities while providing protection from coastal winds.
